Herzogstandbahn

Kay, Mom, Dad, Missy
It was a beautiful day in Germany and that means a trip to the mountains. It is absolutely glorious to be up in the mountains on a clear beautiful day.

Dad & Mom
My friend Jasmin had told me abaout Herzogstandbahn. A short cable car ride up to a beautiful view. So I convinced my parents and Kay that this is what we were doing today.

So. Worth. The. Trip.

It was a beautiful clear day. The ride up was easy, only about four minutes, even my mom wasn't too freaked out by it. Then there is just a short hike to the Hutte where you can have lunch. We lunched outdoors and the views were amazing.

I took a short walk up to the chapel that was just a little stone building with an altar.

The great things about Herzongstandbahn is you can also hike up ot the top and hike all over once you're at the top so there are so many options. I can't wait to take the kids back, although they won't agree with me about the awesomeness of the hiking options...

Landsberg am Lech

My parents live in Hudson, a lovely town in Ohio. Interestingly enough Hudson's sister city is Landsberg am Lech and it's only about 30 minutes away from my house in Starnberg.

Mom & Dad
So I took my parents and Steve's mom out to see it.  Turns out it is a beautiful little town. It has it's own clocktower just like Hudson does. It also has a beautiful river which makes for a very picturesque setting.
Mom & Dad
The weather wasn't great but nice enough that we walked around the little town and had a coffee and a chocolate at the local chocolate shop.

As we were leaving we stopped to do pictures at the tower. Then we realized we could climb to the top. So my mom, Steve's mom and I all worked out way to the top.  At least 10 flights of stairs later we were standing at the top looking over the countryside.

The best part was this door we came out of on the roof. It was like someone had just stuck on door on top of the roof!

Confirmed!

AJ, Missy, Rachel, Abbot Jeremiah, Stefanie & Steve
Stefanie and Rachel were both confirmed today. We are so excited for them as they take this next step in their faith journey.
Stefanie & Abbot Jeremiah
Rachel & Abbot Jeremiah
The girls have been attending class for a year at St John Berchmans an English speaking Catholic Church in Munich. My friend Terry and I were their teachers. So this year was a lot of work for all of us.

The ceremony was lovely and all eleven of our students did great.

Stefanie did the first reading and Rachel the Responsorial Psalm. Both girls did a fantastic job, I love that they are brave enough and confident enough be able to "perform" in front of a group.

AJ was Stefanie's sponsor and Granny stood in for Rachel's sponsor, Mark, our friend and youth minister from our church in Delaware

We were very excited that Grandma, Granny & Grandpa Teddy could all attend the mass. It's great that confirmation happened the week before AJ's graduation so they could be here for both events.
