Happy Surprise Birthday Rachel!!

Today Rachel turned FOURTEEN!  In a few short months she will be in high school. Wow!

Rachel couldn't decide how she wanted to celebrate her birthday so Stefanie and I decided to have a surprise party for her. The funny part was after we had arranged everything Rachel decided she wanted to spend the afternoon after school with just one or two friends. She was very frustrated as she asked friend after friend after friend and no one was available. She was convinced it was going to be the worst birthday ever!

She even decorated her own cake. She found this fun cake online and while I baked it and did the base frosting, the fun design was all her.

In order to get her out of the house Stefanie and AJ took her to our local pottery painting place. When they got back Rachel was surprised to be greeted by 9 of her best girlfriends. Someone else who was surprised? AJ. Apparently he never heard us planning the party. We don't know how!

Rachel was thrilled and she had a great time with her friends. We did a movie theme since we knew they would be watching movies all night long. These cupcakes were my special treat. The popcorn is made from mini-marshmallows! I had to cut them in half and then press them back together. I was skeptical but it totally worked!

The girls all had a great time and amazingly enough didn't wake us up during the night! We pulled off a surprise and a full night's sleep!
